A court here on Monday sentenced a man to death for killing his sister-in-law in Laxmipur village of Kuliarchar upazila in 2002.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Abdur Rahim passed the order in absence of the convict.
The convict is Basir Uddin, son of late Monir Uddin of the village.
The court also fined Basir Tk 1,00,000 and acquitted five other accused as allegations brought against them were not proved.
According to the case statement, Basir along with his accomplices strangled Ambia Khatun to death over family feud on May 2, 2002 when her husband was not at home.
