2 killed while ‘making bombs’ in Chapainawabganj
Two people were killed and three others injured in an explosion while they were allegedly making bombs at Fatapara in Sadar upazila of Chapainawabganj district early Saturday.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) NM Wasim Firoz said police have preliminarily identified the two victims as Al Amin, 18, son of Moazzem of Dhamar Mor area in Ranihati union under Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila, and Jihad, 17, son of Munirul Islam of Kuthnipara area in Shibganj upazila.
“The identification will be finalised later through fingerprint verification,” he added.
The bodies were sent to the morgue of Chapainawabganj District Hospital for autopsy.
The explosion occurred around 5am at the house of a man named Kalam in Fatapara while a group of people were allegedly making bombs, leaving two dead on the spot and three others injured, said Officer-in-Charge of Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Station, Nur-e-Alam.
The injured — Bazlur Rahman, 20, Minhaz, 22, and Shubho, 22 — were first taken to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
The condition of two of the injured was stated to be critical, said ASP Wasim Firoz.
A portion of the house was damaged in the blast, and the tin roof was blown off.

However, no one was arrested in this connection as the house owner, along with his family, managed to flee the scene, the OC said.
He added that a bomb disposal unit of the Rapid Action Battalion and a crime scene team of the Criminal Investigation Department arrived from Rajshahi in the afternoon and conducted a search operation at the site. One unexploded cocktail bomb was recovered during the drive.

3 held for attempting to hurl bombs on N’ganj rail track
Police arrested three young men red-handed while they were allegedly trying to hurl bombs targeting rail tracks ‘in a bid to sabotage’ at No 2 Narayanganj Railway Station on Sunday.
The identities of the arrestees are Joynal, Habibur and Hasan.

25 BNP activists sued over recovery of crude bombs in Natore
Two cases were filed against 25 BNP activists in connection with the recovery of five crude bombs and two bomb-like objects from beside the party office early Sunday.
Lalpur police station’s sub-inspector Himadri Haldar and local Jubo League activist Shariful Newaz filed the cases under the Explosive Substances Act against the BNP men including municipality unit BNP convener Nazrul Islam Mollah.
According to the cases’ statements, miscreants hurled crude bombs targeting Jubo League men from in front of the BNP office around 8.45pm on Saturday.
Sharif Al Rajib, additional superintendent of police (Lalpur circle) of the district, said they later recovered five crude bombs and two bomb-like objects from beside the office. Later police sealed the office.

Earlier on November 15 night, some activists of ruling Awami League allegedly vandalised the party office when a meeting led by the accused Nazrul Islam was being held there.

Man hacked dead in Jashore
A 33-year-old man has been hacked to death allegedly by miscreants following an altercation at Najir Shankarpur in Jashore town, locals said.
The deceased was identified as Afzal Hossain, a tea stall keeper of the area.

Locals said 14-15 men, aides of Sujan alias Tera Sujan, stabbed Afzal from back at the Najir Shankarpur area around 8am on Sunday following an altercation between Sujan and Afzal a few days ago, leaving him seriously wounded.
When the locals came to resist the bid, they exploded two bombs and fled immediately, witnesses said.
Afzal was later rushed to Jashore General Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

There are several cases against Sujan who was released from jail around a month ago, said Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali police station.
“Drives are underway in the area to nab the killers,” said the OC.
