Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Wednesday alleged that a vested quarter is spreading disinformation out of fear of the party’s growing popularity and public support. In a post on his verified Facebook page, he said that as the nation prepares for a free, fair and credible election, certain individuals are attempting to confuse voters by circulating false information across the country. Jamaat pledges to honour student sacrifices: Dr Shafiqur Rahman Dr Shafiqur Rahman urged people not to pay heed to such campaigns, stressing that these efforts are aimed solely at misleading voters. “Voting is your right and a sacred responsibility. Cast your vote for your preferred candidate and symbol. This is what the entire nation expects,” he said.

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Friday warned that no one would be allowed to loot banks in Bangladesh in the future if the 11-party alliance comes to power. “Those who have stolen the country’s money and smuggled it abroad—if Allah Almighty gives us the opportunity to govern the country, that money will be recovered and deposited in the state treasury, InshaAllah,” he said. Ameer-e-Jamaat Dr Shafiqur Rahman was speaking at an election rally organised by the upazila Jamaat at Baufal Public Ground. He said they would not engage in corruption and would not allow anyone else to do so. “There will be no place for corruption in Bangladesh, and it will be uprooted,” he said. Referring to case harassment, he said, “We hate litigation. Those who destroy the lives of innocent people by filing false cases will not be spared. Rather, if evidence is found, they will be brought under strict punishment.” Jamaat chief pledges to uproot corruption  “Development will begin from the most deprived and oppressed areas. Recommendations of uncles and aunts will not work, and one’s place of residence will not matter. People’s rights will be determined based on justice and merit,” he added. Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, the nominated candidate of the 11-party electoral alliance for Patuakhali-2 (Baufal) constituency, DUCSU VP Shadik Kayem, and nominated candidates for four constituencies in Patuakhali district, among others, were present.

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Sunday urged voters to cast their ballots for the scale symbol of Jamaat-e-Islami to build a corruption-, drug- and extortion-free Bangladesh. “The scale is the symbol of justice,” he said while addressing a public rally organised by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Jamalpur district unit at the Singhajani Multipurpose High School ground. Dr Shafiqur Rahman said that if his party gets the opportunity to run the country, it will ensure respect for women. He alleged that women campaigners for the scale symbol are being insulted and even attacked in some places. “A nation that does not know how to respect women cannot move forward. We want to build a new Bangladesh where the dignity and justice of every human being will be ensured,” he said. Referring to the referendum, he said that if “Yes” wins, Bangladesh will win, but if not, the country will be defeated. “‘Yes’ means freedom and ‘No’ means slavery. So, please vote for ‘Yes’,” he added. The rally was presided over by Md Abdus Sattar, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Jamalpur district unit and candidate for Jamalpur Sadar-5 constituency. Dr Chamiul Haque Farooqui, Central Organising Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Jamalpur-3 (Islampur) constituency candidate, GS SM Farhad of Dhaka University Students’ Union, NCP Joint Member Secretary Lutfar Rahman, and other central, district and upazila leaders also spoke at the rally as special guests.  

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on Wednesday (5th November 2025) said they would not form any alliance for the upcoming national election, as it will contest the polls independently. Shafiqur made the remarks while speaking to reporters at Sylhet Osmani International Airport on Wednesday morning. The party will ensure the elections are held in February 2026 with the participation of everyone. If elections are delayed, it may lead to various forms of unrest, he said. Speaking about his recent foreign visit, Rahman said he met with Bangladeshi expatriates abroad, who expressed immense warmth and love. “I am deeply moved by their affection. They have high expectations from the nation and want to contribute to its rebuilding. Yet, despite their significant contributions, we have not been able to show them proper respect,” he said.
