Ex-DMP commissioner Habibur among 11 indicted in Jatrabari Taim killing case
The International Crimes Tribunal-2 on Sunday indicted 11 people including former Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman in a case over the murder of Imam Hasan Taim during the July uprising.
The three-member bench of ICT-2 led by its Chairman Justice Nazrul Islam framed the charges and asked to begin the trial in the case.
The tribunal also fixed March 29 for hearing the deposition of the witnesses in the case.
Among the accused, former officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station Abul Hasan and former sub-inspector of the police station Shahadat Ali, who were arrested, were produced before the tribunal.

The other accused in the case are—joint commissioner of DMP Sudeep Kumar Chakraborty, former deputy commissioner of Wari Zone Iqbal Hossain, former additional deputy commissioner Shakil Mohamamd Shamim, former additional deputy commissioner (Demra), Masudur Rahman Manir, former assistant police commissioner Nahid Ferdous, former inspector of Jatrabari Police Station, Zakir Hossain, former Inspector Ohidul Haque Mamun and former sub-inspector Sazzad-uz-Zaman.
Prosecutor Mizanul Islam stood for prosecution while Advocate M Hasan Imam and Lokman Hawlader represented the state.
On January 24, the tribunal submitted chargesheet against the eleven accused.
Imam Hasan Taim, son of a police officer Moynal Hossain Bhuiya and sub-inspector of Rajarbagh Police Lines, was shot dead during July uprising in Kajla of Jatrabari area of the capital on July 20, 2024.
