Miscreants snatched away ballot paper after exploding crude bombs at a polling centre under Bhola-1 (Sadar) constituency in Sadar upazila of Bhola district on Thursday, forcing authorities to suspend votes for nearly one and a half hours. Omar Faruk, Presiding Officer of Alinagar School and College polling centre in Sadar upazila said a group of people entered the centre after setting off crude bombs around 12:15pm. Later, they beat up polling officials and snatched away 56 ballot papers and stamped 76 others irregularly. ‘Perhaps my last vote,’ says octogenarian voter in Faridpur Voting process was suspended for about one and half an hour due to the incident. Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Arifuzzaman along with police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Police also arrested an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami from the spot.

A 5-year old girl was killed and her siblings were injured in an explosion of a crude bomb at their home in Jashore on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Khadijatul Kubra and the injured were Sajib Ahmed,6, and Ayesha Sultana,3. Family members said Khadija found the cocktail in the nearby playground at Shontoner Mor mistaking it for a ball and brought it home. When she was playing with Sajib and Ayesha with the ball the device exploded, injuring all of them. Khadija died on the way to a hospital in Dhaka. A case has been filed against 75 leaders and activists of BNP and its associated bodies under the Explosive Substances Act over the crude bomb blast in front of the party’s Nayapaltan office. Md Shamim Hossain, sub-inspector (SI) of Paltan Model police station, filed the case naming 15 BNP men, including Dhaka Metropolitan Jubo Dal (south) convener Golam Mawla Shahin, and 50-60 unnamed ones early Sunday. Later, a crude bomb went off  in the area. A crude bomb went off in front of the main opposition BNP’s central office in the capital’s Nayapaltan on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 6:10 pm, Paltan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Salahuddin Mia told UNB.  Read more: AL having nightmares of losing power: Fakhrul Some five to six people have been detained from the spot over the incident for questioning. Additional police force has been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation, he said.

Three people including a policeman and an Ansar member were injured as a crude bomb was exploded at Gonipur Government Primary School polling station in Dagonbhuiya upazila during the municipality election on Saturday.

Two children were injured after a crude bomb they mistook for a toy exploded at Ghop Mahmudur Rahman School ground in Jashore district town on Monday evening.
