Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a Rohingya man and seized 330,000 Yaba  tablets in separate anti-narcotics operations along the Ghumdhum border in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban. The arrestee was identified as Bashir Ahmed, 50, a Rohingya resident of Balukhali Camp-09 in Ukhia. He is the son of Abu Siddique. BGB’s Cox’s Bazar Battalion (34 BGB) conducted the operations in Ghumdhum and Baishfari border areas under Ghumdhum Union. According to BGB, at around 5:30 am on Saturday, a patrol team from the Ghumdhum BOP carried out a special operation based on intelligence information at Kankra Bridge, about 1.1 kilometres inside Bangladesh from Border Pillar-31.  During the raid, the team arrested Bashir Ahmed with 80,000 Yaba pills. Earlier, on Thursday night at around 9:40 pm, another patrol team from the Baishfari BOP conducted a separate operation at a bamboo grove area, about 200 yards inside Bangladesh from Border Pillar-36. The team recovered 250,000 Yaba pills in an abandoned condition. No one was arrested in that operation. BGB brings back 73 fishermen held by Arakan Army The total seizure from the two operations stood at 330,000 Yaba pills. Confirming the incident, Cox’s Bazar Battalion Commander Lt Col SM Khairul Alam said BGB remains committed not only to guarding the border but also to preventing drug trafficking and smuggling. “Such operations will continue in the future,” he said. BGB said legal action is underway to hand over the arrested Rohingya man along with the seized Yaba pills to police, following the filing of a case under existing laws.

A Rohingya man was shot dead in a reported gunfight between two factions of Rohingya at Nayapara in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on Sunday night, police said on Monday. The deceased was identified as Ibrahim, son of Abdur Razzak of the upazila. He was a supporter of ‘Jakir Bahini’ a Rohingya criminal gang. Hasan Bari Nur, commanding officer of APBn-16, two Rohingya criminal gangs exchanged gunfire in the Rohingya camp on Sunday night. On information, a team of APBn rushed to the spot and found Ibrahim injured with bullets. A Rohingya man was shot dead allegedly by miscreants at Ukhiya Balur Math camp in Cox’s Bazar early Thursday, said police. The deceased was identified as Salimullah, a resident of the camp and a volunteer of the camp. Also read: Bangladeshi man shot dead by Indian Khashias; BSF hands over body A group of miscreants opened fire on Salimullah, leaving him injured, said Sheikh Mohammad Ali, officer-in-charge of Ukhia Police Station. The Armed Police Battalion on Friday arrested a Rohingya man on suspicion of his being involved in the killing of Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah in Cox’s Bazar.   The arrestee was identified as Md Selim alias Lomba Selim, 27, a Rohingya citizen living in Ukhiya Rohingya camp. Read:Mohib's murder: FIR lodged, probe in full swing, say police SP Naimul Haque, commander of the 14th Armed Police Battalion, said APBN members arrested the suspect from Camp-6 at Kutupalong in Ukhiya upazila around 11am. Later, he was handed over to Ukhikya Police Station, said the SP. Earlier on Thursday night, police have registered a murder case in connection with the killing of Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah at Ukhiya camp in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday night. The FIR for murder was filed against unknown persons at the Ukhiya police station on on a complaint from Mohib Ullah’s brother Habib Ullah, said officer-in-charge Sanjur Morshed. Unknown assailants gunned down Mohib on Wednesday night. He was first rushed to a local medical facility and later shifted to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Read:Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah buried in Ukhiya camp He was buried in Lambashia camp-1 in Ukhiya upazila on Thursday afternoon after his namaz-e-janaza, which was attended by a large number of Rohingya refugees from camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf upazilas. Formerly a teacher in Myanmar, the slain activist was popularly known as Master Mohib Ullah among the Rohingya refugees. He was the head of Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights (ARSPH) at Kutupalong camp.

Sayed Ullah, one of the Rohingyas landed in Bhasan Char on Friday, could not hold his feelings of extreme happiness seeing all the facilities there and kept calling relatives back in Cox's Bazar camps to join the next batch.
